Class

Baltimore Fencing Center provides three levels of instruction to members.  Level 1 or Beginner’s is designed to provide new students background information on the sport as well as basic knowledge of footwork and bladework.  Level 2 provides instruction at the intermediate level for students who wish to fence recreationally or are building skills with a higher competitive goal in mind.  Level 3 instruction is geared directly toward those students with regional and national level competitive objectives.

Level 2

Level 2 classes focus on adding intermediate level skill sets to fencers with at least 16 weeks of fencing experience.  Many of the level 2 classes focus on improving coordination and body mechanics while broadening the tactical and strategic concepts of a fencing bout.  Level 2 classes do not run on an eight week cycle, like the Beginner’s classes.  Instead the level 2 classes run for an indefinite period allowing students to jump in at any point in order to add new skills or brush-up on technique.  Each level 2 course is one hour long.

Level 3

Level 3 classes focus on refining the basic and intermediate skill sets to the point of perfection.  In addition, level 3 students begin working on deeper tactical and strategic concepts with the goal of competition at the regional and national level.  These classes follow the same formula as the level 2 classes.  Level 3 courses range from one hour to 2 hours in length.

Private Lessons

Private lessons are available to students who further want to refine their fencing abilities with a competitive objective in mind.  Private lessons must be approved by head coach, Bin Lu, and must fit the instructor’s schedule.  Lessons are either 20 or 30 minutes long.
