About US

History

Baltimore Fencing Center is owned by head coach Bin Lu. Bin Lu was a member of the Chinese National and Olympic teams as well as a Chinese National team coach and head coach of the fencing team at Sichuan Physical University. After coming to the United States Bin coached at several clubs in the DC and Baltimore metro areas before opening his first club in Timonium, MD.  In January 2007 Bin has opened a second club in Columbia, MD.

Baltimore Fencing Center opened in Timonium in November of 2000 with the goal of being a clean, well lit facility that any member would enjoy coming to daily.  At the time it opened, as well as today, BFC is the largest fencing club in the Baltimore area.  In October of 2003, Baltimore Fencing Center expanded the Timonium location adding in more fencing space as well as several new amenities.

In January 2007, Baltimore Fencing Center expanded into Columbia with the purchase of the Slayton Fencing Club. Slayton Fencing Club, run by Jamie Met and Kerry Swick out of the Wilde Lake community center had been providing fencing instruction to the Columbia area since 1999.  This addition allows Baltimore Fencing Center to provide its world class services to a broader range of people.
